The price we pay
What are the effects of promoting and practicing an unexamined way of life for all of us?
What is the nature of reality?
Is the physical world a product of our mind making consciousness the primary reality? Is reality fundamentally physical in nature, or a combination of both?
What can we know?
Is knowledge attainable through reason and intuition or sensory experience ? Can we have any certainty whatsoever about the world ?
WHAT'S THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE MIND AND THE BODY?
Is the mind the only reality? Are the body and mind distinct entities that interact? Are mental states merely the activity of neurons in the brain?
What is the nature of consciousness?
Is consciousness a product of physical processes in the brain and nervous system, or is it a separate, non-physical entity that is distinct from the body and brain?
WHAT IS THE MEANING OF LIFE?
Is life meaningless with no objective purpose or is each individual person responsible to create meaning subjectively for themselves ?
Is there a basis for moral and ethical behavior?
Are moral and ethical behaviors determined by natural laws or individual choice? Can they be discovered through empirical evidence and observation of the natural world?
What is freedom of speech without freedom of conscience ?
We may have the legal right to freedom of speech, but distractions can make it difficult to exercise that right in a meaningful way. Distractions can prevent us from thinking critically about the information we are presented with, and they can also make it difficult for us to focus on our own thoughts and beliefs. This can lead us to be more easily influenced by others. In such a case, are we truly free?
